Todowing

Nested sub-tasks inline in Todoist Today, Upcoming and filter views

Todowing

What Todowing does

Todowing is an unofficial Chrome extension for Todoist. Todoist flattens sub-tasks in Today, Upcoming, Filter and Label views, so a parent task and its children show up as separate rows with no visible link. Todowing nests them back under their parent, up to four levels deep. Each sub-task keeps its own due date, priority and labels, and you can check it off or reopen it without leaving the list.

It works on every Todoist plan, including the free one. You do not need Todoist Pro.

Who it is for

Todoist users who break work into sub-tasks and plan the day from Today or a saved filter. If you open Today and have to remember which loose row belongs to which project, this fixes that. It also suits people who want Todoist in a different font, size or color palette.

Free tier

  • Inline sub-task nesting in Today, Upcoming, Filters, Labels and boards, up to four levels deep

  • Due date, priority and labels on every nested row

  • Complete and reopen sub-tasks from the list

  • Seven color palettes

  • Text size slider from 85% to 200%

  • Limit of 5 sub-task rows per top-level task

Lifetime unlock

  • Unlimited sub-task rows, plus adding, renaming and reordering sub-tasks from the list

  • Hide-done toggle that keeps a finished parent visible while it has open sub-tasks

  • Focus sessions: pick tasks from Today and run a countdown timer that stays in sync across open tabs

  • Time estimates on each task row, totaled for the view and for the tasks in a focus session

  • One task, two places: file a task under a parent in another project without moving it. The link lives in the task itself, so it also shows on your phone

  • Notes pad above Today

  • Font picker with fifty Google Fonts

  • Apple Calendar events above your tasks on Today, from up to five calendars. Todowing reads the calendars and never writes to them

  • All future upgrades included

Pricing

The free tier costs $0. The lifetime unlock costs $19.99 once, with no subscription, and the price rises after the first 50 licenses. Stripe handles checkout, and refunds are available within 14 days. If the license server goes down, your unlock stays active.

Privacy

Your Todoist API token stays in your browser and goes only to the official Todoist API. Your tasks never pass through Todowing's servers. The extension has no analytics or tracking, and the notes pad never leaves your browser.

Requirements

Todowing runs on Chrome with the Todoist web app. It also runs in a Todoist app window installed from Chrome. It does not run in the Todoist desktop app. Todowing is not affiliated with, endorsed by or made by Doist.
