NestMaxx

Free online true-shape nesting for laser, plasma and CNC cutting

NestMaxx

Overview

NestMaxx is a free, online true-shape nesting tool for anyone who cuts flat stock to shape on a laser, plasma cutter, waterjet or CNC router. It arranges the parts you need to cut on your sheets so they use as much material as possible, and hands you a clean layout file for your CAD/CAM software.

How true-shape nesting works

NestMaxx packs each part by its real outline using the No Fit Polygon method, rather than the rectangle around it, so round and irregular parts slot together tightly. One click races several packing strategies at once and keeps the tightest result.

Key features

  • True-shape nesting by real geometry, not bounding boxes

  • Part-in-part nesting: small parts drop into the holes and cut-outs of larger ones

  • Multi-sheet layouts with a clear list of anything that did not fit

  • Per-part control of quantity, priority, rotation, grain direction and mirroring

  • Any sheet size in millimetres or inches, with the work origin where your machine expects it

  • Reusable offcuts cropped from the leftover

Getting parts in

Import DXF or SVG files (splines and beziers arrive as true arcs, with layer and unit control), choose from over 40 parametric shapes such as plates, flanges, gussets, brackets and rings, or draw a part in the built-in 2D CAD editor, which checks that every outline is cut-ready.

Use cases

  • Sheet metal cutting on laser and plasma tables

  • Panel nesting for woodworking on a CNC router

  • Laser cutting acrylic, plywood and card

Export and pricing

The finished nest exports as DXF (R12) or SVG, one file per sheet. NestMaxx is free: everything runs on your own device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.
