Wisp Gallery

Wisp Gallery is a gallery plugin for WordPress site owners who show photos or portfolios, such as photographers, artists, agencies, venues and shops, and for designers and agencies building client sites with the block editor.

How it works

Add the Filterable Gallery block to any post or page, choose images, post queries or media queries, and pick one of five layouts. A separate Gallery Filter block lets visitors filter the gallery by Gallery Categories, and filter changes animate with View Transitions. Images, posts and pages share the same Gallery Categories, so one gallery can mix all of them. Columns, row height and aspect ratio are set separately per device, and the filter can show buttons or a dropdown with item counts and multi-select. When a visitor opens an image, a native dialog lightbox shows it with captions and supports swipe and keyboard navigation.

Features

• Five layouts: masonry, justified rows, grid, carousel and accordion, with columns, row height and aspect ratio set per device

• Gallery Filter block with buttons or a dropdown, item counts and multi-select

• Gallery Categories for images, posts and pages, mixed in one gallery

• Native dialog lightbox with swipe, keyboard navigation and captions

• Reveal-on-scroll effects without JavaScript

• About 3 KB of JavaScript to start, no jQuery and no dependencies, built on core blocks and the Interactivity API

• Free importers from Envira Gallery, NextGEN Gallery, Modula and FooGallery, with replacement shortcodes so existing pages keep working

• Patterns, a Gallery Categories archive template, editor commands and Abilities API support

• Translated into German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch and Portuguese (Brazil)

Use cases

• An artist or photographer portfolio where visitors filter work by series or subject

• A wedding or event photography gallery with a full-screen lightbox and captions

• A project or case-study grid that mixes images with posts and pages in one filterable gallery

• Moving an existing site off Envira Gallery, NextGEN Gallery, Modula or FooGallery: the free importers bring the galleries over, and replacement shortcodes keep old pages working

• With Pro: video galleries from the Media Library, YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok and Instagram, albums, load more, and WooCommerce products shown in the lightbox

Who it is for

People who want filterable, good-looking galleries without a heavy page builder or a large script bundle, designers who build client sites with the block editor, and users of Envira, NextGEN, Modula or FooGallery who want a lighter gallery and can bring their existing galleries along.

Pricing

The complete plugin is free forever on wordpress.org, with no ads. Wisp Gallery Pro, from $2.99 per month (yearly $29, $49 or $79 for 1, 5 or unlimited sites; lifetime $99, $149 or $199), adds videos, load more, albums and WooCommerce products in the lightbox. Galleries keep working if a Pro license lapses.
